Hi. I'm Stacey. I live in Charleston with two dogs — Bob, a golden, and Fabiana, an old retired guide dog lab.
Every era of my life has been dog-shaped. The dogs I grew up with. The thirteen guide dog puppies I raised in my twenties. The careers I keep landing in — turns out it's hard to take a job that has nothing to do with dogs. And now these two, who basically run my house.
Tail Mail is something I made because most of what I love and think about and laugh at and worry about is them. The chin on my foot while I'm cooking. The way Bob lays across my legs in the morning like he's trying to hold me in bed. The fact that the word walk is, apparently, brand new every single time.
I wanted to make something for that part of being a dog mom.
Once a month I'll mail you a small kraft envelope, hand-addressed from my kitchen table. Inside: a one-page letter from me about whatever I'm figuring out with my own dogs this month- whether that's a feeling, a trick or fun facts. Something small to do with yours — a way to spend ten minutes really seeing her or memorializing memories. And one handmade thing that's small and pretty — maybe for your fridge, maybe for the friend whose dog also makes her cry sometimes.
It's not really mail. It's a small monthly way of saying I see you. I see your dog. Me too.
$11 a month.
